Many of Rick Neilsen’s paintings are done en plein air (painting outdoors) and are completed on location, finished in the studio, or used as studies for studio paintings. Inspiration is drawn from local scenes as well as travel locations. Distilling nature’s overwhelming information is a challenge that constantly pushes his art.

Rick grew up in Agawam, MA and  always enjoyed drawing and creating art. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Design and Illustration from Southeastern Massachusetts University. He worked in the publishing industry for over 30 years. Currently, Rick lives in Southampton, MA.
